This qualification provides people working in
supervisory and managerial roles within the waste and resource management sector with an essential understanding of health and safety so they can create safer working places for themselves and others.
Who is it for?
The process starts with a two-day knowledge training course, this course will not only provide you with the knowledge and understanding to complete the written project and associated multiple choice question test, but this will set you up for a career in waste management.
The course material is delivered via PowerPoint presentation; however, this will not be death by PowerPoint, this will be an interactive fun learning process, with real-world stories you will never forget, as well as various exercises, question and answer sessions, and much more!
The course covers a range of health and safety-related topics from legislation, understanding of hazards and risks and the process of carrying out a risk assessment, behavioral health and safety, monitoring of health and safety performance, and leadership.
To achieve this qualification, learners must complete the mandatory unit ''Health and Safety Supervision for Resource and Waste Management Sector (HSSRWM3).
This unit is designed to ensure that individuals will:
After the course, the centre will arrange for you to sit a multiple choice question test (MCQ), which will be invigilated by an independent member of our team.
The MCQ test will contain 30 multiple-choice questions and will last 45 minutes and the passmark for this is 70% overall.
On passing the test, you will then progress forward to complete a reflective written project at your own site, over a period of time.
This process will demonstrate you have the knowledge and skills to undertake tasks such as accessing a range of informational sources, you are able to carry out a risk assessment to include implementing suitable control measures, as well as demonstrating leadership, and your ability to monitor the performance of health and safety and benefits this brings to the wider site.
This process requires you to complete a written project that includes questions based on your involvement regarding health and safety on site and evidence that illustrates your practical knowledge such as completing a risk assessment on the hazards and risks that you observe in the workplace, and then reflecting on your findings.
These are submitted to us electronically or through the post for marking.
Once received your work will then be marked by an approved Assessor.
Any work that does not reach the standard will be returned to you, along with feedback from the Assessor.
This will allow you to review the feedback provided by the Assessor, while continuing to research and learn, prior to making the required amendments to any of the required criteria.
Once amended, your work should be sent back to us for marking. Once the work has met the standard, it will then go through an internal and external quality assurance process.
After this point, we can then claim your award!

Standard Package (Most popular option)
£699 + VAT Per Learner
Includes:
About the packages:
So, what is the difference? The Eco package is designed for those who wish to reduce any environmental impact and all materials provided are purely digital.
Whereas, the standard package comes with printed hard copies of the training materials and supporting information which will be shipped prior to the course, which allows you to make notes, and highlight important information, which will be useful when doing research in order to study prior to the multiple choice test, completion of the reflective work project, and in the years that follow should you need to refresh on many of the aspects covered.
Additional Charges:
Re-Test / Re-Assessment - If Required
£100 + VAT - Per additional multiple choice question test including remote invigilation and result, or re-assessment of the reflective work project with or without a risk assessment.
Please note a Delegate may only attempt the multiple choice question test a total of 3 times, so in the event you did fail the initial test included within the enrolment cost, further tests could be scheduled and charged per attempt.
In the unlikely event you used all 3 attempts, you would then have to wait a period of 6 months at which point you would need to re-register for the qualification.
Re-assessment of the reflective work project and associated risk assessment has no submission limit, this would be charged per attempt if additional assessment is required outside of what is included in your chosen package.
However, to date, we have never charged a customer for an extra test or re-assessment which is down to the quality training and rigorous planning and support we provide our learners.
Your E-Portfolio
Your portfolio will be located online, which you can access through any website browser via a laptop, computer or mobile device.
Here you can access your reflective work project and risk assessment template which can be completed online or downloaded onto your device. Once complete this can be submitted to the centre digitally, before being passed to your Assessor for review.

This will not only help you research and learn in order to achieve the award, but it’s also the ideal on-site reference tool, when carrying out your daily duties.
Because we have remote access to the information provided, it allows us to add and update information over time, resulting in an ever-expanding resource at your fingertips!
We will also provide you access to a range of knowledge video’s, which explain how to carry out specific tasks, procedures or assessments as well as more in-depth videos which cover specific topic areas such as legislation.

Yes, you need access to a working site with the required resources, as the reflective work project and associated risk assessment are completed in the working environment.
We regularly deliver private courses to customers across the UK, from independent metal recyclers, anaerobic digestion, and composting facilities, those working in utilities, to larger waste management and quarry organisations.
Courses can be delivered online for those organisations that have employees operating in a range of locations and wish to avoid any unnecessary travel, or we can provide face-to-face courses delivered at a centralised location either at an operational site, head office, or alternative venue.
The benefit of a private course is the training can be tailored more to your waste sector activity be it utilities, wastewater, and associated anaerobic digestion to metal recycling or more main steam operations, and we will work with you to agree on dates to deliver the training, which fit around your operational requirements.
Included within the cost of the qualification is your initial registration with the awarding organisation CIWM (WAMITAB), for this qualification
Registration will last for a period of 2 years from the date of registration.
However, the average completion time is between 5 and 7 months. It is however down to the Delegate, and we have had Delegates complete their chosen qualification quicker, while others may take longer depending on their workload, holidays, and other things going on in their busy lives!
In the event you don't complete within this time frame, you will need to be re-registered for a further 2 years.
No, this qualification is open entry which means you don't need to have achieved any other qualification.
