Centre Review

The centre will review your booking, before issuing some additional enrolment forms to complete.

Submit payment

Once the administration is complete, an invoice will be raised. Once settled we will allocate an Assessor who will contact you to schedule an induction within 10 working days.

Induction & Assessment

The first visit with your assessor will be an induction. This will explain whats required to achieve the award, as well as the centre and awarding organisations policies. You will then plan visits based on the work set by your assessor and taking into account your available time.

Complete Award

Once you and your assessor have completed the award, it will then pass to an allocated internal quality assurer (IQA), who will review the award, contents and process to ensure it aligns with the standard required. Only after this can the award be considered complete.

Certification

Once the award is complete, and the IQA has submitted their report, we will then look to claim the award from the awarding organisation. This can typically take 15 to 20 clear working days, from the date of claim. Once we receive the certificate at the centre, we will provide you or your organisation with a copy, prior to sending the original in the post.

  • Is this qualification suitable for me?

    This qualification is designed for those individuals who are responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of maintenance activities and personnel within mineral products operations. 


    To achieve this qualification, learners must complete all seven of the mandatory units. 


    Completing this qualification demonstrates the learner's competence to supervise maintenance activities. 

  • Qualification Process

    The MPQC Level 3 Diploma in Maintenance Supervision for Mineral Products Operations is achieved through assessment in the work environment. 


    The process requires the Learner to demonstrate that he or she has the required knowledge and skills to carry out maintenance and/or fabrication on the static or mobile plant.


    The qualification process would include a number of visits by one of our competent Assessors. 


    The first assessment visit will include an induction, to explain the process, as well as the Centre and Awarding Organisation’s policies, practices and procedures.   


    Each Learner will need to complete the following unit(s): 


    Mandatory Units – Must be achieved by all learners:


    • Contribute to and Promote a Positive Safety, Health and Environmental Culture (SHE01)
    • Manage Physical Resources for Workplace Activities (MS17)
    • Implementing Maintenance Activities (MS18)
    • Monitoring Maintenance Activities (MS19)
    • Resolving Maintenance Problems (MS20)
    • Supervision of Teams and Individuals in Mineral Products Operations (SHE05)
    • Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment Associated with Maintenance Activities (MS21)

    As part of the process, you will be required to answer a number of question papers (one for each unit), provide evidence that you implement health and safety procedures, monitor those carrying out maintenance, work with staff to resolve problems arising, and manage resources while promoting a positive health and safety culture. 


    Do not worry—you will plan each assessment visit with your Assessor to allow time to complete the required work! 


    When your assessor arrives on site, he or she will observe you carrying out your daily duties, ask questions about the tasks you carry out, examine the documentation, such as safe working procedures, risk assessments, etc, and ask you to explain the various processes and procedures. 


    On completion, the Centre will claim your certificate, which will be scanned, and a copy sent in advance of the original certificate.

    Additional Charges:


    £600 + VAT - Per additional assessment visit, this is typically required where the assessor has confirmed an assessment within 7 days, and then turns up on site and the learner has either done nothing or the assessment can’t go ahead as the learner has meetings or other work which takes priority over the assessment.

    This will not only help you research and learn to achieve the award, but it’s also the ideal on-site reference tool when carrying out your daily duties.

  • Do I need access to an operational facility?

    Yes, you need access to an operational facility with the required resources, as the assessment phase is completed in the working environment.


    • Operational facility examples: quarries, cement, asphalt (tar) plants or block works. 
    • Resource examples: crushing, screening, people/staff, vehicles, mobile plant, workshop, oils, lubricants. 
  • How long does it take to complete?

    These qualifications are led by the Learner, with support from their Assessor. 


    It’s hard to give an accurate time frame, as it will depend on a range of factors, such as the time the Learner can put into research and learning, completing work set by their Assessor, existing knowledge and experience, and workload. 


    We have outlined approximate time scales below; however, the time frame can be dramatically increased or decreased depending on the Learner and whether additional time is required to carry out further learning. 


    Approximate time scales:


    MPQC Level 3 Diploma in Maintenance Supervision for Mineral Products Operations: 4 to 6 months 


    The minimum time frame within which this award can be completed is 4 weeks from the first assessment visit, which is set by the awarding organisation, which recommends a minimum time scale of 10 weeks.

    No, this qualification is open entry which means you don't need to have achieved any other qualification.
