The onsite route to achieve technical competence, for a permitted household waste recycling centre / civic amenity site, either involved in the transfer of either non-hazardous waste only, or hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
Contact us through the website chat, email or phone and we will guide you through the process, and take any questions, as well as confirming the award is suitable.
Once the administration is complete, an invoice will be raised. Once settled we will allocate an Assessor who will contact you to schedule an induction within 10 working days.
The first visit with your assessor will be an induction. This will explain whats required to achieve the award, as well as the centre and awarding organisations policies. You will then plan visits based on the work set by your assessor and taking into account your available time.
Once you and your assessor have completed the award, it will then pass to an allocated internal quality assurer (IQA), who will review the award, contents and process to ensure it aligns with the standard required. Only after this can the award be considered complete.
Once the award is complete, and the IQA has submitted their report, we will then look to claim the award from the awarding organisation. This can typically take 15 to 20 clear working days, from the date of claim. Once we receive the certificate at the centre, we will provide you or your organisation with a copy, prior to sending the original in the post.

The process requires the Learner to demonstrate he or she has the required knowledge and skills to manage a permitted waste management facility.
The qualification process would include a number of visits by one of our competent Assessors.
The first assessment visit will include an induction, to explain the process, as well as the Centre and awarding organisation’s policies, practices and procedures.
Each Delegate will need to complete the 5 Mandatory units and one of the optional units listed below:
Mandatory Units:
• Maintain health and safety in the waste and resource management industry (OCS01)
• Manage the environmental impact of work activities (OCS02)
• Manage the movement, sorting and storage of waste (OCS05)
• Control work activities on a waste management facility (OCS06)

Learners will then need to select one of the optional units:

As part of the process, you will be required to answer 6 question papers (One for each unit), gather documents relevant to your role such as risk assessments, environmental procedures, check sheets, permits, planning conditions and other such documents! On each document, you need to highlight relevant sections and also make notes as to your involvement with the document(s).
Don’t worry, you will plan each assessment visit with your Assessor to allow time to complete the work required!
When your Assessor arrives on site, he or she will be looking to observe you carrying out your daily duties, asking questions about the tasks you carry out, looking at the documentation and getting you to explain the various processes and procedures.
On completion, the Centre will claim your certificate, which will be scanned, and a copy sent in advance of the original certificate.
