It’s a requirement within The Quarry Regulations 1999, that everyone working in a quarry is competent to perform their daily duties.
This qualification is aimed at mobile and static plant or other operators who are required to undertake some form of basic maintenance as part of their job role.
Contact us through the website chat, email or phone and we will guide you through the process, and take any questions, as well as confirming the award is suitable.
Once the administration is complete, an invoice will be raised. Once settled we will allocate an Assessor who will contact you to schedule an induction within 10 working days.
The first visit with your assessor will be an induction. This will explain whats required to achieve the award, as well as the centre and awarding organisations policies. You will then plan visits based on the work set by your assessor and taking into account your available time.
Once you and your assessor have completed the award, it will then pass to an allocated internal quality assurer (IQA), who will review the award, contents and process to ensure it aligns with the standard required. Only after this can the award be considered complete.
Once the award is complete, and the IQA has submitted their report, we will then look to claim the award from the awarding organisation. This can typically take 15 to 20 clear working days, from the date of claim. Once we receive the certificate at the centre, we will provide you or your organisation with a copy, prior to sending the original in the post.

This qualification is aimed at mobile and static plant, or other operators who are required to undertake some form of basic maintenance as part of their job role.
This qualification is not appropriate for fitters or Learners who carry out maintenance as their main job role. Those Learners should instead undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Maintenance for Mineral Products Operations.
To achieve this qualification, Learners must achieve the four Mandatory units. An additional unit is available where relevant to candidates’ roles, but its achievement is not essential.
Completing this qualification demonstrates the learner's competence to carry out basic maintenance.
The MPQC Level 2 Certificate in Basic Maintenance for Mineral Products Operations is achieved through assessment in the work environment; the process requires the Learner to demonstrate he or she has the required knowledge and skills to carry out basic maintenance on the static or mobile plant in which they operate.
The qualification process would include a number of visits by one of our competent Assessors.
The first assessment visit will include an induction, to explain the process, as well as the Centre and Awarding Organisation’s policies, practices and procedures.
Each Learner will need to complete the following unit(s):
Mandatory Units – Must be achieved by all learners:
• Conform to General Workplace Safety and Security (GEN01)
• Conform to Efficient Working Practices in the Workplace (GEN02)
• Monitor and Maintain Environmental Conditions in Own Area of Responsibility (GEN03)
• Carry Out Routine Maintenance on Plant and Equipment (PO10)
An optional unit is available where relevant to the Learners’ role, but its achievement is not required in order to achieve this qualification.
Optional Unit(s):
• Slinging, Lifting and Moving Materials and Components (PM10)
As part of the process, you will be required to answer a number of small question papers (One for each unit), gather documents relevant to your role such as risk assessments, environmental procedures, check sheets, operator handbooks, and other such documents!
Do not worry, you will plan each assessment visit with your Assessor to allow time to complete the work required!
When your assessor arrives on site, he or she will be looking to observe you carrying out your daily duties, asking questions about the tasks you carry out, looking at the documentation and getting you to explain the various processes and procedures.
On completion, the Centre will claim your certificate, which will be scanned, and a copy sent in advance of the original certificate.
